Finding The Right Wedding Shoes For Your Style
Your wedding day should be the most exciting and enjoyable day of your life. While everything else goes as perfectly as you planned it, picking the wrong shoes can be one of the biggest mistakes. Being uncomfortable and having your feet hurt can be a very unpleasent experience, especially on your wedding day.
Picking the right shoes for your style and comfort is a very important part of the attire planning process. Personally, this is one of my biggest regrets when I look back at my wedding day. I made the WRONG choice and I don’t want you to make the same mistake. On your wedding day, you get dressed earlier on in the day, well before your walk down the aisle and depending on the end time of your reception it could be a twelve-hour day, give or take. When shopping it is important to keep your comfort in mind. Of course you want the shoes to look pretty and coordinate with your dress/outfit but, don’t forget about your comfort and don’t sacrifice your comfort.
questions to ask yourself when choosing what will work best for you.
Think about your venue first when deciding if you want to wear a heel or not. Will you be walking in the grass or dirt? If the answer is yes, you will want to look for a flat shoe or a block or wedge heelto avoid sinking into the grass or dirt.
Are you used to and comfortable wearing heels on a regular basis? If the answer is yes, then you may want to go with a heel option but, make sure the height, type of heel base (stiletto, block, wedge, kitten, etc) work within your comfort level. If the answer is no, maybe opt for a comfy yet beautiful flat option.
Will your shoes bee seen under your dress? If yes, you may be looking for more of a statement-type shoe or something with a little pop or pizzaz. But, make sure the “pop" and “pizzaz” also include comfort.
Are you open to the option of wearing one type of shoe for your photos and ceremony and then switching out to something a little more comfortable and fun for the reception, such as; a cute pearl or sparkly sneaker, flip-flop/sandal, boot or slipper.
Stay True To Your Personal Style
If you do not normally wear heels, don’t plan to wear heels on your wedding day. That’s a recipe for disaster and sure to leave your feet in pain. If you are not a heel person, it’s ok to wear flats, boots or sandals instead on your wedding day. Stay true to who you are. If you are a boot lover, wear a fun or pretty pair of jazzed up boots. More of a sneaker person, wear those cute rhinestone sneakers. There are so many great options out there and keeping your feet comfortable will allow you to really focus on and enjoy all the little moments. Lastly, don’t let anyone talk you into a shoe you aren’t sure about or doesn’t feel comfortable wearing. This is your day, after all, and you should wear the shoes that make you happy and comfortable. Comfort, comfort, comfort is key.
Happy Planning!
