Low- Key Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Options

Planning your wedding is a very exciting time in your life, sometimes it can be so exciting that certain details fall through the cracks all together or can get put on the back burner as an "I can plan that later task" kind of task. While that can be true for some of the smaller details, one task that gets put aside often and planned last minute is your rehearsal dinner. This task should be on your to-do list early in your planning. Here is why, once you have your venue picked out and your date set in stone, you should start thinking of what you want to do for your rehearsal dinner. A lot of venues/restaurants can also get booked out well in advance and with a larger party, they will need ample notice to book and reserve a space. Another reason it’s important to plan your rehearsal dinner early is that once it comes time to set up your wedding website and invitations with all the details, you want to give the time and location of the rehearsal and dinner to those in the wedding party so that they have ample time to plan out time off from work and travel.

In this case, it is always better to be safe than sorry, and trust me when I say I have seen couples not get to do their first plan because they waited too long to make a decision. In my experience getting all the dates, times and food locked down at the beginning of the planning process is always your best bet.

Here are some fun, low-key ideas, for your rehearsal dinner.

Local restaurants to your venue

This is an easy stress-free option if you have a good local restaurant that is close to your venue. Most places will let you reserve a room or a section of the restaurant and some will even have an option to do a set menu for your party to keep the choices and the prices within your preferred budget.

Back Yard BBQ

This could be a more fun low-key, intimate setting for your wedding party and family to relax before the big event. There are places that you can get to cater your BBQ such as, local BBQ food trucks and restaurants that have options to make it easier on you to host your event. Or, if you love cooking/grilling and hosting events, this can be a great way to put your personal touch on the food and décor by doing it yourself or with your friends and family.

Picnic Pizza & Wings

This is a simple option that will feed the rehearsal crew but also just keep the night quick and easy. Order delivery from your favorite local pizza joint and host it at your home or a local near by park, or even the venue itself. Just make sure you check with the venue first. ;)

Taco Bar

Make the rehearsal dinner theme a fiesta! Have a local restaurant cater with a drop and go buffet or create your own DIY taco bar. Set up a table with your tortillas, proteins and all the fixings. Your guests will love the fun of building their own tacos and enjoying time with you in a casual and comfortable setting. Add on a delicious pre-mixed margherita to add to the party vibe!

There are so many fun yet simple options to plan your rehearsal dinner and keep it low-key. The whole purpose is to treat the ones nearest and dearest to you for helping make your special day happen. Your rehearsal dinner shouldn’t be stressful. It’s meant to be a time for you to soak in the joy and excitement of the wedding to come and your future together, with the people you love the most. Have fun with it and do something that feels comfortable and special to the two of you!

Happy Planning!
