Wedding Favors Your Guests Will Actually Love

We’ve all been to weddings where the favors are some little chatchski with the couples name and date on it, which are cute but, you end up leaving the wedding thinking, “what the heck am I going to do with this?” It sits in your house for a few years because you feel bad throwing it away but eventually you do. It’s sad but it’s true. So, I want to talk to you about favors that your guests will actually enjoy getting at the end of your wedding so that your favor doesn’t end up dusty on a shelf somewhere or in the trash.

Here are a few good questions to ask yourself when deciding on your favors:

  1. Will my guests actually use/eat this item?

  2. Does this favor tell something fun or unique about us as a couple or our wedding day?

  3. Would I want to receive this favor at a wedding as a guest?

Going with an edible favor is a sure fire way to make sure guests actually use and enjoy your wedding favors. There are a few ways that you can do edible favors. First, you could offer guests a served end of the night treat as a thank you for coming and having a blast at your wedding. This could be anything from a display of greasy burgers and fries from your favorite fast food joint, an ice cream truck parked right outside, a mini desserts display or donut wall or even a food truck serving up your favorite last night treats. Your guests will leave with full happy tummies after dancing and drinking the night away. This is a great way to end the night and a nice way to thank your guests for celebrating with you.

Another way to incorporate edible favors would be to provide your guests with individually bagged or boxed delicious sweet or savory snacks. This could be specially made cookies, specialty chocolates, soft pretzels, bags of both of your favorite snacks, mini personalized olive oil or jars of honey, caramel apples or apple butter, mini bottles of champagne or your favorite liquor or bags of coffee grounds from your favorite coffee shop. The possibilities are endless and it should be something that represents the two of you. Place your edible favors on a table near the exit to ensure guests grab them on their way out or, use them to add some visual interest to the tables and place them at each place setting for guests to enjoy as they settle into their seats for dinner.

If you decide not to do an edible favor, think of something that you know your guests might actually use like a custom made natural soap, mini soy candles in your favorite scent, little pots of succulents or your favorite flower, cozy throw blankets with your names and date on them for a cold Fall or Winter wedding. Think of something that your guests will be able to take home and use again.

Another great option is making a donation in lieu of favors to a cause that is near and dear to you and your partner’s heart. Maybe it’s the animal rescue where you got your beloved pets from or a foundation that helps people with certain illnesses or struggles that have affected people you love. Donate your cost for favors to your preferred charity/organization in honor of your guests and your wedding day. Then share that with your guests through a sign on your gifts and cards table or even during a speech at dinner. Let your guests know why this was important to the two of you and let them know that they are part of something that is so special to you.

Favors can get costly and they don’t have to be the same boring old thing you have seen a hundred times before. This is your wedding and it should represent you! Remember, wedding favors are a way to say “Thank You” to your guests for being a part of your day so make it something they will enjoy, make it symbolic to you as a couple and make it fun!

Happy Planning!

Love,
