How Can I Make My Ceremony Different?

For many couples, the pressure of including specific traditions in your wedding ceremony can be a bit overwhelming, but I am here to tell you that you don't have to stick to a stuffy old school Ceremony. Get creative! The Ceremony is the best place to really add in some unique and memorable details about the two of you as a couple. This is your big day so it is important to make it about you and your love story!

Below are a few ideas to help you step out of the box of tradition and really create your own Unique twist for your big day!

  • Instead of the traditional unity candle lighting or sand ceremony, try a wine box with your favorite wine in it that your guests can add well wishes to before or during the Ceremony. Then on your 10th wedding anniversary you can open and drink the wine while you read the well wishes together. You can even combine your favorite wines or beers to symbolize the joining of your two lives together. Do an Irish hand tying Ceremony or combine dirt into one planter with your favorite flower in it that you will nurture and help grow together. Make it something that is special and meaningful to the two of you.

  • Include readings, poems, stories or songs performed by some of your favorite people throughout the Ceremony to bring your guests into your love story. Share how you met, how you knew you were the ones for each other, how the proposal happened or a fun story about your time together as a couple. Help your guests feel the love you have for each other and bring them on a journey.

  • Write your own vows. Share your heart and soul with each other in front of your loved ones. Sharing your true love for each other is such a beautiful thing and your guests want to feel that love between you two. Plus, you will want to capture it on video so that you can remember the words you shared with each other for years to come. Or write your vows in a keepsake vow book that you can go back and read over and over again.

  • Have fun with the music. Use some of your favorite songs (either instrumental or non-instrumental) for your processional and recessional songs.

There are so many fun ideas out there! The most important thing to remember is that this day is about you and your partner and it’s important to highlight your love for each other in your own way. Make a list of some important key details that you both want to include and share during your Ceremony and start creating from there.

Happy Planning!

Love,
