What Is "Couple Style" & How Do We Know What Ours Is?

If you have been following me for a while, you may have noticed that I use the words “couple style” quite often. But, what the heck does “couple style” mean and how do you determine what yours is?

Well, let’s start at the beginning with what is “couple style”. Your “couple style” is basically exactly what it sounds like. It’s your style as a couple. It’s the mixture of the personalities, personal styles, interests, and goals of two paired-up individuals. Your “couple style” can include things that you both enjoy together such as foods you both enjoy, favorite date locations, types of places you like to visit, or types of books, clothing, movies or music you both share. For example, you and your fiance/significant other might really both enjoy dinner dates with pizza and funny movies and also really enjoy going to the beach on the weekends. You might have a love of animals and are really into your furbabies. You might love trying exotic foods together and traveling to new locations. There are so many little elements that help make up who you are together and help create your style as a couple. It also would include things like goals, values, and future plans that you both share. Every single couple has a unique mix of personalities and characteristics because it’s made up of two unique individual people who have come together as a couple.

So, now that we know what it is. Let’s talk about how you figure out what your “couple style” is. Let’s do a little exercise together. Grab a pen and a piece of paper and jot down you and your partner’s answers to these questions. If you are reading this from your phone just screenshot the below graphic and add in the answers in edit mode.

Now compare them. Where do your answers match up? Where do they differ? The answers that match up or mesh together are the ways you both are similar and most likely what you both enjoy doing together. This is your style. These are the things, without you even realizing it, that make your relationship stronger and your connection unique. Learning what your Couple Style is will help you in your wedding planning process too. By focusing on the things you have in common and both share similar interests in, you can better navigate your wedding priorities together which will help you plan and budget accordingly for your wedding.

I hope you enjoyed this little exercise together and maybe even learned something new about each other. Stay true to your “couple style” and let it help you steer your wedding in the right direction to help you create a wedding day that is all about the two of you!
